Need a hand?

Tell us what happened, your iPhone model, iOS version and Capbeam version. An optional Settings → Share app diagnostics report can help; it does not include your video or captions. Attach it only if you choose.

Transcription & language downloads

Import a video with clear speech and choose the language spoken. Capbeam checks which languages your iPhone supports. Apple may need to download speech or translation assets first. Once your video and the required assets are ready, processing happens on your iPhone. Automatic captions and translations are drafts: review names, punctuation, meaning and timing before sharing.

Selecting words & editing text

Tap a word in the bottom strip to seek to its moment. Double-tap to open the caption text and keyboard. Word style appears when words are selected. Select more lets you choose several words in one caption; Clear removes the selection. Caption animation works without a word selection; Word animation targets selected words. Caption → Edit caption text, timing and merge keeps line-level actions together.

Removing a background & customizing highlights

Open Style and turn off Caption background to remove the full caption box. For the word being spoken, open Highlight: enable or disable it, choose Text color or Background, and adjust the colors before tapping Apply. Cancel keeps the previous settings. Word highlighting needs precise speech timing; approximate or translated words keep their normal appearance. You can still give selected words a persistent color or background with Word style.

Longer videos & available space

Capbeam accepts sources from one second up to three hours. The source, working audio and finished export still need to fit your iPhone’s available storage. Space is checked before processing and depends on the file and export settings. Choose 480p or 720p for a smaller output, or free space and retry. Keep Capbeam open during processing. Completed speech sections are saved locally; reuse them by resuming with the same source, language and engine.

Projects, backups & your original video

Editing and reviewed cuts do not change the original source video. Keep copies of important videos and exports. Share an editable Capbeam project through Files to move your work. A project saved without media needs the exact original video reconnected before playback. Do not delete the app as a troubleshooting step before saving the work you need.

Exporting a video, SRT or text

Transcription, manual editing and styles, SRT and plain-text export are free. AI styling separately uses credits. SRT stores caption text and timing; TXT stores the edited transcript. These formats do not include visual styles or animation. A new captioned-video export requires Capbeam Pro. If Photos permission is denied, choose Files or allow Photos access in Settings. A completed render can be saved again, including after your subscription ends.

AI styling & credits

Open AI in the editor, allow caption sharing and continue with Apple. Choose creativity and review the maximum credit cost before generating. Preview the completed style and Apply it. Undo restores the edit; it does not refund completed generation. Failed or canceled jobs are not charged. Long videos share a palette and style memory from previous chunks.

Paid Pro includes 200 credits each month; an eligible trial includes 20 once. Monthly credits do not roll over. Packs of 500 or 2,000 credits do not require Pro and never expire. To restore, use the same Apple sign-in and Settings → AI credits → Restore credits. Reopen AI in the same project after a lost connection. TestFlight credits are separate from production credits.

Delete your AI account in Settings → AI credits → Delete AI account. This preserves local projects and does not cancel your Apple subscription. AI sends only your consented caption text and style context to Capbeam/OpenAI; video, audio and face analysis are not sent.

Restoring or canceling Pro

Use Capbeam Settings → Restore purchases with the Apple account that made the purchase. Manage or cancel your subscription in Apple Account settings. Deleting Capbeam does not cancel a subscription. Apple handles payments and refund requests. Never send your Apple password or payment details to support.

Camera, microphone & recording

Camera and microphone access allow recording in Capbeam. You can change permissions in iPhone Settings. Voice-following teleprompter rehearsal uses the microphone and on-device recognition to move through your script; rehearsal is not saved as a transcript. The teleprompter script is not burned into your recorded video.

Privacy & basic usage sharing

Transcription and manual editing run on your iPhone. Optional AI styling sends caption text and style context to Capbeam/OpenAI after your consent; video, audio and face analysis stay on your device. Apple and RevenueCat handle purchase and subscription information. You can turn off Share basic usage in Capbeam Settings. This sharing does not include your media, captions or file names. Read the full privacy policy for the details and deletion options.

A note on availability

Capbeam is being prepared for the App Store. These guides describe the app; they are not an announcement that it is publicly available. The app interface is English and requires iOS 26 or later.

Please keep passwords, payment details and private recordings out of support messages.
